As impressively quick as the normal GTR is, it would be so easy for Nissan (or any car maker) to just throw on huge tires, a widebody and start cleaning up track records all over the world.

GM did it on a production car and made it a limited edition car and are selling it for big profits
The rest need to follow suit

That is literally what GM did with the Z28. Minus the wide body stuff, of course. It's super unimpressive engineering.

Oh come on, the Flowtie has to be worth at least 4 seconds at the Nurburgring. And that's my point- impressive engineering isn't required to go fast. Lots of power and big sticky tires (ala Z/28) seems to do the job just fine.
